Pelvic Floor Therapy
Pelvic Floor Therapy or Pelvic Floor Muscle Rehabilitation is a non-surgical, non-invasive, pain free treatment that helps to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles.
The pelvic floor muscles can weaken with normal aging, vaginal deliveries, and with gynecological & urological surgeries. However, therapy may help improve your condition.
Some conditions that pelvic floor therapy may improve are:
- Urinary incontinence
- Fecal incontinence
- Pelvic floor relaxation/Pelvic organ prolapse
Melanie Miller, APRN, a dedicated and compassionate urology specialist is proud to offer pelvic floor therapy services designed to restore strength, comfort, and confidence. Melanie gently guides each patient through tailored therapeutic sessions that target pelvic floor muscles, aiming to relieve urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, and other pelvic floor-related conditions. Melanie is committed to partnering with you every step of the way toward lasting improvement and wellness.
The Rehabilitation Process
When you decide pelvic floor therapy may be right for you, you will be scheduled for an evaluation in our Graham Medical Group Urology office. You will be asked detailed questions about your symptoms including:
- Oral intake
- Voiding history
- Bowel history
- Average number of incontinence episodes and pads used per day
- Nighttime voiding
- Surgical history
- Severity of symptoms
You may be asked to complete a voiding/stooling diary at the beginning of and throughout therapy. Therapy typically consists of one-hour sessions, once a week, for eight weeks.
