By using this data to make more informed decisions, your surgeon is able to plan for and carry out a personalized surgery based upon your individual needs.
Orthopedic FAQ’s
Do I need a referral?
Referral requirements vary by insurance carrier. Patients are encouraged to call their insurance plan to verify requirements. If a referral is required, patients may need to call or make an appointment with their primary care provider. As a reminder, it is very beneficial to discuss any musculoskeletal symptoms or concerns with your primary care provider at your routine visits.
Do I need an x-ray before my appointment?
The need for an x-ray varies based on the reason for the appointment. When a referral or appointment request is received, the orthopedic team will determine the need for imaging. If imaging is performed prior to the appointment with one of our orthopedic specialists, additional views or repeat imaging may be necessary at the time of the appointment and varies by case.
What if I have had orthopedic care, treatments, or surgeries outside of Graham?
If patients have been evaluated and/or treated by another orthopedic surgeon outside of Graham, it is beneficial to obtain those records prior to your appointment including any imaging. If patients have had surgery for an orthopedic condition outside of Graham and are requesting a consultation for the same area/condition, additional review may be required prior to scheduling.
