The Certified Pharmacy Technician works under the supervision and direction of a pharmacist to ensure the health and safety of their patients. The technician locates, packs and labels medications to fill both inpatient and outpatient orders for prescribed medications and drugs. In addition, the technician compounds medications using sterile techniques, prepares unit doses, and has responsibilities to clean and sterilize the compounding rooms. The technician performs administrative duties including collecting payor information and submitting insurance claims for processing, clarifies orders through prescriber offices, transferring of orders to other pharmacies and assists in tracking inventory and drug shortages. The pharmacy technician is responsible to have knowledge of the 340B Drug Program and the associated risks and benefits of the program. Reports to the pharmacy director.

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician in the State of Illinois. Must have completed an accredited Pharmacy Technician course and have passed the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board exam
