Non-Certified Lab Assistant

The laboratory assistant’s role is to deal efficiently and courteously with the public. It is imperative that they are capable of obtaining good specimens, handling those specimens properly, and maintaining clerical records of the orders and billings associated with these events. The laboratory assistant is directly responsible to the Laboratory Administrative Director, Laboratory Phlebotomy/Outreach Coordinator or senior bench technologist. The laboratory assistant is indirectly responsible to the Laboratory Medical Director.

  • High school graduate with classes in chemistry, biology and algebra preferred. Associate Degree would be helpful.
  • Must have completed lab assistant training course or other appropriate training program and be familiar with routine laboratory tests or receive on-the-job training provided by the health system.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team member.
  • Valid Illinois driver’s license
  • Current CPR Certification
